The following two stanzas are quoted from the poem, "Dictation", which is written by the poet, 夏宇 (Xia Yu), a famous Taiwanese female poet. I tried to translate it into English. Please enjoy reading it.T

Dictation

And then we went to India,
In India, the music neither start,
Nor end, in India
You can't ask.

Where another person's going.
In India, if you ask a person's whereabouts,
It will bother each other's will, the one who's leaving
Once asked, starts to hesitate, in India,
The one who's asking begins to question.
The other's problem
Becomes your own problem.

In India, if people can sit,
They won't stand, if they can lie down,
They won't sit; otherwise,
All keep squatting whatsoever.

Don't ask in India,
The music is endless and never-ending,
The color of the world is like shadows and electricity.
Indians do not ask anything.
               ( quoted from 夏宇.Salsa)

Dictation

And then we went to India.
In India, music has no beginning,
Nor does it end.  In India,
You cannot ask

About another's destination.
In India, asking about one's whereabouts
Disrupts both parties' will.
The one leaving,
Once asked, starts to hesitate.
In India,
The one asking begins to doubt.
Another's problem becomes
Your own problem.

In India, if people can sit,
they won't stand. If they can lie down,
they won't sit; otherwise,
They'll all be squatting.

Don't ask in India.
The music is endless and unceasing.
Colors are like dew, electricity, illusion and shadow.
Indians do not ask questions.    ( from 本腰 )
