ハーブは長寿ではないし、樹木ほどの大きな存在感もないかもしれません。それでも、彼れらは私たちにハーブ自分ならではの知恵をもたらしてくれます。時折、一つの季節にしか成熟し、開花し、種をこぼしますが、ハーブは私たちに命の儚い性質を思い出させます。 ....現在行われている努力は、次の多くの世代のために未来の可能性を播種することができます.....植物は、時間と空間が許すなら、種から育てるようにしてください。なぜなら、植物の世話をするのが彼らと心を通(かよ)わすことができる素晴らしい方法の一つであるからです。同様に、もし貴方が野生のハーブを見つけたら、時間をかけて、自己紹介し、それから彼らと繋がりなさい。（p.9）

Herbs

While herbs may not have the longevity or large presence of trees, they bring us a wisdom all their own. With sometimes only a single season to mature, flower, and go to seed, herbs remind of us of the temporary nature of life. ....Efforts made now can seed future possibilities for generations to come.....consider growing them from seed if space and time allow, as tending to plants is a fantastic way to commune with them. Similarly, when finding herbs in the wild, take time to introduce yourself and connect with the plant. (p.9)
